As every backpacker knows travelling gypsy style is very different from the normal style and one grows very attached to one’s backpack. It’s a central part of the journey and gets repacked on almost a daily basis. I bought my backpack about seven years ago in Shepherd’s bush market with my dad from a lovely but slightly dodgy orthodox Egyptian. We have been through a lot and although being the cheapest and ugliest backpack on the road it served me well and saw a lot of the world. I even went in Bolivia to a market to have some of it repaired but Torres was more than it could handle. One of the straps completely ripped apart and it was time to let it go. It was an emotional goodbye, but my new one is amazing and it’s nice to have a normal backpack like all the other kids 🙂
