From Bariloche we had a nice long two day bus ride all the way down to the village of El Chaltén through the Patagonian wilderness. We spent most of the time asleep, reading, staring at the scenery and eating. It’s Patagonia so there is hardly any civilization, let alone food stops, so in traditional Eastern European fashion Monika and I packed enough food to feed the SerboPolish army. If we had broken down in the middle of the trip we would have at least two weeks before we started to eat each other. Momma would be proud.

Just like in the movies from Patagonian road trips time really does seem to slow down. We spent one night in the village of Perito Moreno and it felt like we were literally in the middle of nowhere. Event of the year was when we went to buy chocolates and the small shop owner told me he was of Yugoslav descent and that the south of Chile was full of Serbs and Croats. You can imagine our excitement, we spent ages talking to him, took photos, exchanged details and even got a free Kinder egg to add to the 10 kilos of food we had prepared for the trip.
