So I know some people are going to think it’s a little pervy, but it’s such an important part of Brazilian culture that you can’t not write about it. You can’t even spend a couple of hours in Rio without realising that they really like their butts big and juicy. All the woman are really proud of their butts and like to show them off and it’s almost impossible to find a Brazilian woman on the beach not wearing a gstring with her bikini. Unfortunately this often meant that the oldest, fattest, crinkliest grannies had their whole bottoms out for the world to see (don’t worry I haven’t put any photos of those up- there are some things that you just can’t unsee).
But all in all the best thing about the beach in Rio and the whole city in general is that people just don’t care. You can wear whatever you want and feel completely comfortable. Noone is judging you for your clothes or your body and it’s a great feeling and made me feel completely relaxed. Even the mannequins in the shop windows are bigger than your average stick thin models in Europe. And a lot of the guys that I spoke to said they like their girls “healthy” and a bit plump, with a good bum. It seems like a great environment for a young girl to grow up in. Viva the big butts!
