So for almost a week now I’ve been visiting friends in Monterrey in the north of Mexico- the city where I spent my year abroad. Monterrey is the second biggest city in Mexico and since the times of Porfirio Diaz it has been one of the most important business centres in the country. My absolute favourite thing about this place is that wherever you go here you are surrounded by mountains, so from the moment you wake up you can appreciate the beauty of the city. The north is also famous for its Musica Norteña which consists of different styles of music and dance such as banda and cumbia which all involve dressing like a cowboy- to my great delight 🙂 And for those of you who are following the news in Mexico (like my mother who seems to know better what’s going on here than my Mexican friends) the hurricane is really not that bad it is just raining loads
